What is physics? This is a question to which the answer we physics students are devoted to searching for, but rarely anybody of us could find one that satisfies himself. A picturesque illustration to this question will be presented in this talk, which is expected to be helpful to the audience who wishes to figure out the answer of his own.

【报告人简介】
曹则贤, 1987年毕业于中国科技大学物理系，1997年获德国Kaiserslautern大学物理学博士学位，1998年入选中科院“百人计划”，现任中国科学院物理所研究员、博士生导师。已在Science，PNAS, PRL, Advmat等国际杂志上发表研究论文80余篇，另发表中文物理学、材料学教育论文80余篇，著有《物理学咬文嚼字》，《Thin Film Growth》等专著。现为《物理》杂志专栏撰稿人，科技部“973”纳米材料项目首席科学家，英国物理学会亚太网科学顾问，中国科技大学等校兼职教授。
